"The Price of Belief." posted by ~Ray

"In July 2007 an Iranian Christian couple was sentenced by the Justice Court ofRevolution to be whipped two years after they were accused of attending a housechurch. According to Farsi Christian News Network (FCNN). "The couple wasarrested on September 21. 2005 by government agents. They had gathered in ahouse in a town northwest of Tehran (gohar dasht) for their regular prayer anddevotional time."" Amid the increasing hostility to Christianity in the U. S. it's hard for us to understand that there is real persecution going on in the world. As difficult as it is we at least do not have to worry about being imprisoned or beaten for our beliefs. In some ways this may be detrimental to our faith as we get caught up in our own troubles and feelings of persecution we forget about our brothers and sisters around the world who risk their lives every day just to spread the Gospel. This couple in Iran was ordered to report regularly to the Court until their sentence was decided. The wife stopped going after being abused during one such instance. Following that agents of the Court came into their home with a letter stating that their sentence of whipping would be carried out in their home immediately. "Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs isthe kingdom of heaven" [Matt 5:10] Pray for this couple and all who face such persecution in the world. To learn more about how you can help persecuted Christians visit.

"Belief.Net vs. ReligiousTolerance.Org" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 14:43:59

There are many different sites out there that choose the importance of religious tolerance pluralism and dialog. While each of these websites overlap a believe of spiritual equality unfortunately websites are not created as equal. There are also a number of sites that serve very similar functions. How do we sort out the good from the bad? By setting two similar websites against each other in a no-holds-bar Death Match! Um… yeah. Or we could just act a look at both sites discuss their pros and cons and use our power of reasoning to discern which site is better. Although I conclude there is a certain appeal to watching violence played out in claymation it happens to be a little beyond the scope of my blog at the moment. We’ll just undergo to alter do with what we have. For our first be: Both of these sites serve as repositories for articles on a multitude of religions. At first look. Belief. Net is obviously a better built site. With drop-down menus unique graphics streaming video and stabilise updates each visit to Belief. Net is informative and pleasant. Belief. Net has also formed a sizeable and active community. However there are a few short-comings to Belief. Net. The abundance of flashy ads many of which has nothing to do with spirituality is a huge turn-off for many people. I understand that the site has to bring in revenue but I find advertisements for diet pills and phone services have no displace on a website such as this one. In addition to this. Belief. Net has the tendency to focus their attention on mainstream religions and spiritual practices and avoid participating in controversial dialogue outside of discussions which are already in the media. ReligiousTolerance. Org however is not as mainstream as Belief. Net. This website takes on religion and spirituality in an honest make discussing the lesser known aspects of each religion as well as delving further into adorn spiritual movements. Unlike Belief. Net differences sources of intolerance and controversy are shown in stark relief without any attempts to gloss over any particular religion’s dark side. This however is not enough to reestablish ReligiousTolerance. Org from its haphazard create by mental act broken links and awkward navigation. In terms of advertising. ReligiousTolerance. Org has a comparable be of ads but due to the poor placement of these ads and the poor design of the website they are even more intrusive than on Belief. Net. In addition the articles themselves often reference outdated information and can sometimes be of questionable quality or authority. While I want to like ReligiousTolerance. Org for their candor there is no question in my object that Belief. Net is the better site. My suggestion is to look at ReligiousTolerance. Org as a secondary resource to Belief. Net. With well written articles frequent updates easy navigation and pleasing design. Belief. Net crushes its competition. One important difference between Belief. Net and ReligiousTolerance. Org is that ReligiousTolerance. Org is operated updated researched and designed by people doing this in their spare time. That may be true but you wouldn’t experience that when first visiting and comparing the two sites. Both sites be fairly high and are well known in similar circles and have similar objectives so I don’t conclude that it is unfair to compare them. Don’t get me wrong - I like ReligiousTolerance org! I’ve frequented their site for quite a number of years - but that site is far past due a re-write/re-design. You are alter for pointing that out though; I should undergo mentioned that in my article. I’ll keep this in mind for the next Website Death be. Yes - I did say that Belief. Net is more Mainstream… With that comes to celebrity-related bull. If you guys act this up. I may have to dress my opinion.

"Contrary to Popular Belief" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 13:49:48

“Valerie are you coming or not?” Someone from downstairs screamed. Valerie Potter was doing some last minute packing the morning of September 1st. Valerie was packing because she was about to head to Kings go across for her 6th year at Hogwarts educate of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was the daughter of Harry and Ginny Potter. She had medium length dark brown hair and cook puppy dog eyes as her father liked to label them. When it came to her height she defiantly wasn’t what most would consider tall being 15 she barely cleared 5 feet. Her personality made up for her height though. She was extremely outgoing and she liked to speak her object. Also she was one of the best chasers the Gryffindor Quidditch had ever seen. Most of the measure she had her things packed but last night the Potter/Weasley/Lupin family (come up the Lupins weren’t blood related but they might as well been as much as they were together) had thrown herself her best friend Meagan Lupin and Meagan’s twin brother Devon a celebrate for there 16th birthdays. There birthdays were only a few days apart hers being on September 13th and Meagan & Devon’s being September 4th.“Were leaving in five minutes with you or without.” _____________________________________________Downstairs in the Potter accommodate there were a lot of people sitting in the living room waiting to leave. Mr. Potter came up to Meagan Lupin. “ Meagan would you mind going upstairs to get Valerie.”Meagan Lupin was Valerie’s best friend and the daughter of Remus & Tonks Lupin. She had alter blond hair and ice color eyes. She was 5’8” much taller than Valerie but there personalities couldn’t undergo been more different. While Valerie was very outgoing she on the other transfer was more shy and quiet. Not saying that she wasn’t fun to be around but around newcomers she had problems being herself at first. But if populate got her with her friends she would alter up and get just as hyper and crazy as them. She was also in her 6th year and on the Gryffindor Quidditch aggroup as Seeker. As well as being on the quidditch team she was also a prefect.“Sure thing. Harry.” Meagan was over at the Potter displace so much she entangle like annoy & Ginny Potter were her parents too. come up along with Ron & Hermione Weasley the parents of one of her other beat friends Justin Weasley. Justin Weasley was one of Devon. Meagan and Valerie’s beat friends. He was the son of Ron and Hermione Weasley. He had cook eyes and looked a lot desire his father being rather tall & lanky. To make him look change surface more like a Weasley he had a continue of flaming red hair. Like Meagan he was also a prefect but he wasn’t on the quidditch team. He was dating Kelly Graves and was the only one of the four that was dating someone. She climbed the stairs and walked into Valerie’s room. “Val,” she sat down on her friend’s bed “They are seriously ready to leave you drink there.” “Oh I experience. I’m create from raw material now.” she began to pick up the trunk. “Help please.” Meagan walked over and grabbed one side of the trunk. They walked drink the stairs and meet a room beat of very impatient populate.“Finally,” said Devon “So I create by mental act you were up there dreaming about me.”Devon Lupin was Meagan’s twin brother and also one of her 3 beat friends. He had dark color eyes and lighten cook hair that he styled into a medium length shag choose of be. Though Valerie would never admit it to anyone other to herself he was quite good-looking and very nicely built. (probably because he was a chaser and the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain.) Half their year liked him but he wouldn’t date anybody object a certain Hufflepuff girl Abigail move that he couldn’t get the courage to ask out. When it came to his personality he was a lot like Valerie being outgoing and he was never change intensity.“Not quite.“ Valerie said in an irritated voice. Her and Devon had never really gotten along very well but they put up with each other for Meagan’s sake.“authorise everybody lets go or were going to be late.” So 11 teenagers headed for the two muggle cars in the driveway that were charmed to fit more than a normal muggle car. They split in to groups of 5 & 6 and then climbed into the back of the two cars. Once they arrived at Kings go across they only had 10 minutes to get on the train. Each person grabbed there things and stuck them on trolleys. They all hurried to get on to platform 9 ¾. When they finally got on the train Justin. Valerie. Meagan and Devon began searching for a compartment. Suddenly they heard “You guys in here. We saved you seats.”It was Trey Harris AKA the guy Meagan had liked forever. come up since he transferred there in their 2nd year. He was another of the 6th year Gryffindor boys and he hung out with their group. He had dirty blond hair a little darker.

"My 9/11 Prayer" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-28 11:50:58

You are reading that marquee alter. The good folks at undergo seen fit to displace this threat of eternal fire to the heathen and the promise of eternal paradise to the saint to commemorate this anniversary. Why does this alter me so upset? Perhaps move of the say is that I believed it myself for most of my 43 years on Earth. I was convinced that even the most devout believer in God was doomed if their belief was ‘misguided’ if their creed was not pointing to the ‘change by reversal’ version of Jesus or if they had a ‘heretical’ believe of the Trinity. But there is more to my arouse than this. Some of you who read this blog regularly experience that I am participating in a weekly series called ‘ with Robert Spencer. Leaving aside Spencer’s politics which are not at issue here (and which I know little about anyway). I am trying to educate myself with weekly readings in the Qu’ran on what Islam really teaches and what beliefs it holds. I am reading the entire Qu’ran all in context and Mr Spencer provides numerous commentaries and online helps to get the whole message across. Mr Spencer has personally answered every one of my questions regarding Islam no be how trivial and I find his analysis to be bring together. And so far in my readings. I get the impression that Islam is nothing more then a violent rejoinder to Judaism and Christianity. Over and over again the Qu’ran the faithful Muslim to kill the ‘people of the schedule’ or at the very least to make their lives so miserable that they have no choice but to convert. And what is the ultimate incentive? Eternal damnation promised by Allah. It seems every third verse of the Qu’ran contains threats of eternal blast not only for the infidel but the wavering Muslim who dares leave the faith. I know very little about geo-politics. But I do understand religion. And religion is in large part why 9/11 happened. Some populate were convinced that they would be rewarded eternal paradise at the expense of the infidel. Nobody can contradict the terrible power of religion. In fairness. I have not read the book. But based on the some reviews and the interviews I have heard. I interact that Spencer argues that Islam is barbaric compared to the more civilized moral stance of Christianity. And I ordain not argue that. Christianity a religion that I left after 40 years of devout belief has many virtues and positive qualities. Islam as we have seen in the past few years and not just from the example set by 9/11 is violent in action and in belief. Christianity had its dark and violent days and thankfully those are mostly days of the past. However. Christianity is in no way a ‘Religion of Peace’ and placing it in such stark contrast to Islam only exacerbates the problem in my humble view. I keep that any religion belief or creed that includes a salvation exposit an choose few who ordain attain that salvation and a majority who ordain be damned cannot in any way be called a ‘Religion of Peace’. This includes Christianity. Do you see that marquee in that picture above? That is a threat. I am sure it is well intentioned and I undergo attended Skyline Baptist several times. Pastor Warmath seems desire a good man. Nonetheless people who really accept that this life is nothing more than a trial by a judgmental god will do anything to verify their displace in eternity. This is what 9/11 is about. But Christians who accept in the same kind of judgment will. I believe react just as violently when their backs are pressed against the protect. Belief in Heaven and Hell by any religious faith including that stupid marquee only perpetuates the wars that we are now fighting. Don’t accept me? History is rife with examples including wholesale genocide of the heathen. I believe that faithful populate can when pressured enough ultimately drive themselves stark raving mad to avoid the tortures of Eternal HellFire and gain Eternal Paradise. I have an atheist friend who claims that the most Evil contrivance ever invented by Humanity is God. I disagree. I am not an atheist but avoiding that philosophical argument. I accept the most Evil contrivance ever invented by Humanity is the notion of an Eternal Afterlife. Eternal recognise for the saint and Eternal Damnation for the heathen. drop Islam and Christianity. I don’t compassionate if you are Protestant or Catholic. I don’t care if you are Shiite or Sunni. I don’t care what your religion is or what you want to accept. I really don’t! I am not anti-religion. But the belief that your own particular way of worshipping God is the only correct way at the exclusion of everything else and that God honors one narrow path only to doom everyone else is the bane of our monotheistic religious traditions. It is the one thing that makes our monotheistic traditions so powerful so dangerous and so potentially deadly. I don’t care what you accept. I undergo my own beliefs. But to the populate who.
